TOGETHER IN ELECTRIC
DREAMS RE-ENTER THE CHARTS
From Music Week; "EDF
Energy's use of Together In Electric Dreams in their new TV campaign
has resulted in the 1984 number three smash re-entering the chart at
number 90 (3,195 sales) for Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder. It is also
at number 118 (2,338 sales) for Oakey's band, The Human League -
which is odd, since they never recorded it. It would appear that the
sales thus credited are from the Human League compilation The
Greatest Hits, on which the Oakey/Moroder track appears in its
original version. That being the case, the two should have been
combined, with a number 61 chart placing being earned by the
resultant total of 5,533 sales". |

SKY NEXT SINGLE OFF
CREDO ALBUM
This just in from Wall Of
Sound;
"After finishing a
successful tour across Europe and a number of festivals dates
scheduled for this summer, the Human League will return with a
fantastic new single called ‘Sky’. The track is taken from their 9th
studio album ‘Credo’, the group’s first record in 10 years. Sky’
paints a picture every bit as evocative as your favourite acoustic
troubadour and shows what a great songwriter lead vocalist Philip
Oakey is. The single is out on 25th July and will feature mixes from
Plastic Plates, The Hacker, Fusty Delights and Martin Brodin." You

VARIOUS RELEASE INFO
Human League manager Simon
Watson has revealed a more complex schedule of single choices and
album release dates;
In Germany, Austria and
Switzerland we are switching the second single from 'NLMG' to
'Egomaniac'. This is because we have secured a slot on a major
German TV show for a performance of 'Egomaniac'. There will however
be no remixes and no video for this single. The TV programme (RTLs
Die Ultimate Chart Show) airs on
Friday 4th March and the single will be released the same day.
In those three territories the album itself will now be released on
Friday 11th March in order to narrow the gap between the TV airing
and the album being available.
In the rest of the EU the album will now be released on Monday 21st
March in order to narrow the gap between the release in GAS and the
rest of the continent.
The album will not be available domestically in the US or on I-Tunes
in the US until such time as we have secured a domestic label for
the record in that territory. We will however keep this decision
under review. |

NEW NIGHT PEOPLE REMIX
Got this email from old
Human League producer Barry Gilbey;
Thought you
might be interested in hearing this, its our new remix of The Human
League - Night People.
We didn't have access to the full vocals so have done a dub mix, we
wanted to make a mix that we would really want to play in clubs.
There wasn't a mix out of the original remix package that really did
it for us. There were some good mixes but just not what we would
play.
We've used it as the opening track on our latest podcast (Podcast
5). If you are interested in hearing the mix the link for the

BRILLIANT NEW COVER
VERSION OF LEAGUE TRACK
What has to be one of
the best ever cover versions of a Human League track has just been
released as Darkstar puts out their version of You Remind Me Of Gold
as the first single from their new album North. Very different to
the original as they slowed the tempo down, but with an electronic
back up track that wouldn't be out of place on a Human league
record, this is (pardon the pun) pure gold! Click on image to enjoy. |

THE
STEEL CITY TOUR EARNING GREAT REVIEWS
The band is half way through the Steel City Tour and the show, and
especially The Human League, are earning great press reviews. The
Scotman mention "the
band seemed revitalised", while The Independent go to greater
lenght and think "The Human League are still such an immaculate
blueprint for a pop group of the future, a gauntlet thrown in the face
of younger, more cowardly bands, that it actually makes you giggle".
Along the same postive lines go Liverpool Echo as they write that "there
was no doubt who the night really belonged to" while The Shoreham
Herald points out
"The Human League took the
singing was almost at football stadium levels". You can read the
reviews in full

CHAOTIC FESTIVAL GIG
Last saturday the band were scheduled to play at Signal Radio's 25th
Anniversary Festival in Stoke, but they had to cut their set short and
only play 8 songs. Due to incompetence from the organisers the planned
time schedule got pushed several hours and while first act Ali Campell
played a whole set, both Go West and headliners Human League had to
shorten their sets. Has there ever been a festival where the support
act played twice as long as the headliner? Read setlist and reviews
